Cheatham Chooses Webb
Last night, the Cheatham County BOE unanimously chose Dr. Tim Webb to be the counties next superintendent of schools...but what we should all be asking ourselves, right now, is "Will Dr. Webb choose Cheatham? because it's not a done deal, just yet.
You see, Dr. Webb has also thrown his resume into the ring with the Murfreesboro City School district and their interviews are set to begin Thursday!
So what's the bottom line?
Well it is starting to look like, assuming the Murfreesboro District places the value of Dr. Webb as high as Cheatham evidently did, and if the cards play out just right, then Dr Webb will be able to take the job of his choice.
While this may not be the best position for our (or any) school district to be placed in right now, I do think that if Dr. Webb finds himself in the luxurious position of being able to cherry pick from two jobs, especially in this turbulent economy, then whichever district he ultimately chooses will absolutely know that he has chosen them as well... and this, imho, would be a win win bonus for all stakeholders.
The Public Forum (Q&A with Dr. Best & Dr. Webb)
If I had to describe last night's meeting and atmosphere in one word - it would be Impressive!
I was very impressed by both finalists, impressed by our school board, impressed by those in attendance - from our school educators to our elected officials! Impressed by the very apparent strength, fortitude, compassion, and unity of this community.
There's no doubt in my mind that both finalists, on their way home last night, had to be thinking the same as I... Cheatham is a compassionate community that cares deeply about it's children, neighbors, and future.
We truly are one of Middle Tennessee's best kept secrets! So, let's just keep it to ourselves- mum's the word ;o)

Veteran's Day
I could go on and on with plenty of "Have a Great Veterans Day" niceties... but I won't - instead I'll just leave you to watch this emotional and moving music video of the Oak Ridge Boys' performance of G. I. Joe and Lillie, which features Oak Ridge Boy, Joe Bonsall singing about his parents.
This very touching song was written while they were still alive and after their passing was detailed in the Joe's book, G. I. Joe and Lillie: Remembering a Life of Love and Loyalty.
